One woman's experience of life in East Africa
Welcome to my online journal where I will share experiences, observations, and photos of my work and travel in Tanzania. I am a first-time traveler to Africa, and so count this as a once in a lifetime opportunity to see and learn about things I would never see elsewhere. This online journal will include my reflections on both the work and play adventures I will have along the way.

I work with schools in America to help them build approaches to instruction that are of high quality, responsive to student needs, and create a positive learning culture for both students and teachers. I began to travel to Tanzania to work with teachers there two years ago. That teacher project is completed. So, I currently travel to Africa on a regular basis simply because of my love of the country and my concern for both the educational and community development issues that exist there. While my educational work in Tanzania is on hold for now, I am working to support a local village fair-trade farming cooperative, and working with friends to see if we can initiate new projects in support of educational development.

Elephants are my favorite animal, so I will post to this one. I am insanely jealous of you AND the teacher who are learning under you. You are so right when you wrote "because every child deserves an excellent teacher." We all do! And the successful people I know had good teachers.
